SAT

Overview

The SAT (Scholastic Assessment Test), a standardized exam recognized around the globe, is used by many colleges and universities, mainly in the USA, to judge a student’s ability to enter into undergraduate programs. The SAT is designed to test a student’s Reading, Virtual Writing, and Mathematics skills and plays a key role in assessing the applicant’s academic potential and preparation for college-level coursework. Colleges and universities across the globe use the SAT as a common benchmark to compare students from all different types of educational settings.

The SAT tests the student’s critical thinking, analytical reasoning, and ability to solve problems using the information provided in the questions. There are Reading and Writing sections along with Mathematics. The Write section is now optional and was removed from the latest version of the SAT. The SAT is more focused on complex problem solving in a practical context, grammar, data analysis, and algebraic reasoning. With the introduction of a Digital SAT that can be completed using a computer, the student will now take a shorter and more efficient examination that provides the ability to get their scores faster and a more tailored testing experience.

Students planning to attend college outside of their home country must prepare for the SAT as it is part of the admissions process, particularly when applying to universities in the United States. A good score on the SAT helps strengthen a student’s overall application and gives them access to many scholarships, merit-based financial aid options, and specialized academic programs in addition to all that, having a high SAT score demonstrates the candidate’s academic ability, level of dedication, and capability of succeeding in a challenging academic experience, so preparing for the SAT is one of the most important parts of an international student’s higher education experience.
